Week 7 of the Lent Prayer Blanket Knit-A-Long

Week 7 of the Lent Prayer Blanket Knit-A-Long

Thank you so much for choosing to make a prayer blanket with me this Lent! If you don't already have the supplies you need, you can get the list on this page

The basic construction of this blanket is 9 squares all sewn together at the end. Therefore, only the basic knit stitch is needed throughout this project. Each day, you will work on a little bit more of a square, and then you will spend the last four days sewing the squares together and weaving in your ends! Sounds easy, but staying consistent with knitting each day is a challenge. Do your best to stay current, but you can always use each Sunday to catch up on what you missed!

Lent Prayer Blanket

Day 1 (March 25th):

Continue knitting square 9 for another 13 rows.

Day 2 (March 26th):

Continue knitting square 9 for another 13 rows. After finishing these 13 rows, cast off in the same manner as the previous 5 squares.

Day 3 (March 27th):

Today, we will begin sewing up your squares. Line up squares 1-3 following the diagram below that you filled out when you started your blanket. You will spend today sewing squares 1-3 together. You can sew up your blanket many ways, but my personal favorite is the mattress stitch. To do the mattress stitch, you just weave through the back of the stitch on your left square, then through the back of the stitch on your right square, then through the back of the next stitch on your left square, and continue in this manner until the blanket is seemed!

Day 4 (March 28th):

Today, you will sew squares 4-6 together in the same way that you sewed squares 1-3 together. After completing that step, you will now sew your two rows of squares together.

Day 5 (March 29th):

Start by sewing squares 7-9 together in the same way you sewed together squares 1-3 and 4-6. After completing this step, sew squares 7-9 to squares 4-6 in the same way you sewed squares 4-6 to squares 1-3.

Day 6 (March 30th):

On your last day, you need to weave in all of your ends so that your blanket has a clean finish, and it won't unravel!

Congratulations!! You've finished your Lent Prayer blanket! Be sure to post it on your Instagram and tag me @engineeredartistry!!!
