Recreation Stockings

The Recreation stockings are my personal favorite item to knit and display in my home. For a recreation stocking, I can recreate any knit stocking to include any new family members in this timeless tradition.

I started making recreation stockings for my husband when we got married since my sister and I have an heirloom stocking made by a friend when we were born. That friend is no longer with us, so there was no way to have another one made for my husband. Using some fun math and way too many hours, I was able to duplicate the design so that my husband could share in the tradition.

Now, I offer this skill to anyone else in this position. If you need another stocking to match your family’s heirloom stockings, I’m your girl! It’s the most fun thing to make for me as well as being my personal favorite to hang each year. My husband felt loved and welcomed into our family when we were able to include him in this important tradition, and I love providing that feeling to others.
